The Fall for Hall

Wow, the Oilers are really bad this year and if they continue their losing ways, we will have a great chance to draft Taylor Hall.

If I were Tambellini, I’d get rid of the following:

  • Horcoff:  I can handle him not getting points and being a defensive demon but he just looks lost out there.  Unfortunately, the Oilers will not be able to trade him with that albatross of a contract.
  • O’Sullivan:  Too many skilled smurfs.  Gotta get rid of some of them.  Not too sure if any other team will bite on his ~$3M cap hit.
  • Nilsson:  Another skilled smurf.
  • Moreau:  Past his Best Before date.  Too many dumb penalties.  Not a good leader either.
  • Staios:  Also past his Best Before date.  He’s a warrior but his cap hit hurts.
  • Souray:  Although he hasn’t said it directly, it seems he’s tired of losing and wants out (possibly to be closer to his family).  The Oilers need to gain some cap space flexibility and getting rid of his contract would be a step in the right direction.
  • Grebeshkov:  He has regressed this year (possibly because of an early-season injury which involved a lobotomy).  Would’ve been nice to trade him last summer when his value was as high as it could be.

Who do we need? A lot!

  • A healthy Khabibulin
  • A backup goaltender who is capable of filling in when (not if) Khabby is injured
  • Bigger and grittier forwards
  • A new GM and President of Hockey Operations

My Predicted 10/11 Roster:

  • Penner – Eberle – Hemsky
  • Hall – Gagner – Cogliano
  • Brule – Horcoff – Pisani
  • Stone – Potulny – Stortini
  • Visnovsky – Smid
  • Gilbert – ?
  • Arsene – ?
  • Khabibulin
  • ?

Calgary Communities

The AMA maps always had the communities listed for Calgary.  And thanks to Google Maps, I haven’t used those paper maps in ages.  However, the one con about using Google Maps is that the communities are incorrectly listed or not even listed at all.  Anyways, this PDF should make things a bit easier:
